The 444 Program

AfrEd’s 5-year strategic plan (2023-2027) aims to improve quality access of primary and secondary school under the 444 Program envisioned in the preparation of the 2023 AfrEd Strategic Plan. One of the strategies to achieve the goals of 444 is leveraging collaboration among government and non-government education sector stakeholders. This will offer continuous support and ensure continued practice of AfrEd’s projects after grant cycle.

AfrEd aims to produce and provide online content in 4 subjects by 2027. Target subjects are English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. This plan feeds into target of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 4.1: Free Primary and Secondary Education. This has created our overall program called the ‘444’ (4 subjects focusing on global goal number 4, target number 4.1)

Currently, AfrEd implements a public diplomacy small grant from the United States Embassy to Tanzania. This project, E-comm, is part of the 444 program and the broad goal of AfrEd to support government and private sectors initiative to improve education provision and ensure quality education access to all. E-Comm focuses on English Language competences only.

Thanks to the US Embassy, this grant is attracting both government and private sectors like banks to invest in the production of more content. This commitment of AfrEd and other stakeholders shall continue to build sustainable projects to support the ‘444’ program.
