Empowering Teachers for a Digital and Connected Classroom.

AfrEd successfully implemented a teacher training program in Bagamoyo under the E-Comm Project, bringing together 104 teachers from CHASIMBA, MAKURUNGE, FUKAYOSI, KIROMO, KINGANI, KEREGE, DUNDA, SHUSHILA, NIA NJEMA, HASSANAL DAMJI, ZINGA, MAPINGA, and MATIMBWA secondary schools. The training aimed to strengthen the role of teachers as key drivers of quality education while equipping them with practical and transformative skills in today’s learning environment. A key focus was placed on Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), enabling teachers to foster more interactive, student-centered classrooms.

Throughout the sessions, teachers were taken through interpersonal communication skills, focusing on how to create stronger teacher-student connections, improve classroom interactions, and foster a supportive learning environment. These skills are vital in helping teachers address challenges in communication and ensuring that every learner feels included, motivated, and understood.

Alongside this, the training explored the integration of technology in education, with practical demonstrations of digital tools that can be applied directly in the classroom. Teachers learned how to use these tools to make lessons more interactive, collaborative, and engaging, even in schools with limited resources. By blending communication skills with digital innovation, the program equipped teachers with strategies to prepare students for a fast-changing world while also enhancing academic outcomes.

This holistic approach not only enhanced teachers’ confidence in engaging their students but also prepared them to adapt to modern teaching methods. Together, we can continue shaping a brighter future for Africa through education. Join us.
